Most
conflict in life is ultimately about power and control.
In
your life who has the power? Who has the control? When it comes
to your actions, the answer always has been and always will be,
you do.
The
next eight lessons will help you use your power and control more
effectively to get what you want. These lessons will increase
your knowledge of conflict management skills. Knowledge is power.
Choice is control.
These
lessons focus on peaceful conflict management. Most people already
know how to argue, fight or walk away from a conflict. But many
people don't know how to work cooperatively with an "enemy"
to reach a solution both people like. This course covers these
topics:

1:
Three
different ways you can respond to any conflict - Soft, Hard and
Solve The Problem.
Lesson
2:
How to do a Win-Win Negotiation.
Lesson
3:
The reasons why different people see the same thing differently.
Lesson
4:
How to handle your anger and other strong emotions.
Lesson
5:
Ways to improve your listening skills - and why you should bother.
Lesson
6:
Strategies for getting your point across in a conflict.
Lesson
7:
How to decide the best way to handle a conflict.
Lesson
8:
How to make it real - Ideas for using these skills in your life,
school, home and community.
Issue
for Special Focus:
In
addition to the eight lessons listed above, we have included an
"issue for special focus"; The Impact of Terrorism
which deals with the effects of terrorism. The events of September
11th affect us in many different ways and we need to pay special
attention to the changes we feel.
Learning
how to deal with terrorism is important because we can't work
it out with the person who caused our conflict. We need to handle
it ourselves. Here's where you can find suggestions on how to
do that.
Thank
you in advance for opening your mind to another way to handle
conflict.
