Lesson 6 provides students with the other part of good communication - the part where they are the speakers, not the listeners.

Good communication skills consist of:

NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION or BODY LANGUAGE - Smiling, rolling your eyes, not making eye contact, gestures, etc.

VERBAL COMMUNICATION - What you say and how you say it.

The focus here is to differentiate between aggressive and assertive communication.

Aggressive - Intimidating, hostile or demeaning to others

Assertive - Calm, self-assured, respectful tone and words

When a win-win outcome is the goal, it is clearly important for students to be skilled at using appropriate body language as well as assertive communication techniques.
